The Sherwood Forest Road Maintenance District was formed in 1982. The Town of Becket, at their annual Town Meeting that year voted to establish the district. The petition was sent to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts where the Senate and House of Representatives passed "The Act" establishing the Sherwood Forest Road Maintenance District in July of 1982.
